Takpa Art Gallery

Project Type : Art Gallery (New construction)

Location : Kathmadu, Nepal

This project came to us at the request of a good friend, a renowned Tibetan contemporary artist. It held deep significance for our client, as it marked the opening of his first gallery in his hometown of Kathmandu. For us, it was equally special, being the inaugural project of Gyatso Design Studio. It was also special because of the project's nature as a space dedicated to art.

The design process was collaborative from the very beginning, with a focus on creating a clean and minimalist space much like a blank canvas in itself. This concept extends beyond the main gallery to other key areas, including the arrival zone, reception area, gallery store, and restroom, ensuring a cohesive and neutral aesthetic throughout. To ensure versatility, we incorporated several full-height, movable wall panels that can easily be adjusted to suit specific exhibitions or can be stored to create an open layout for larger events, providing both flexibility and functionality. The project was a great success, resulting in a happy client and numerous exhibitions being held since the gallery opened.
